The Build-a-Wheelchair Challenge is a one-of-a-kind, interactive team activity that combines hands-on assembly with inclusive competition. Teams first earn wheelchair components through engaging mini-challenges, then collaborate to construct fully functional wheelchairs. The excitement peaks as participants put their creations to the test, navigating fun skill-based courses and racing to victory.
This powerful experience is not only fun and dynamic but also promotes teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving, leaving teams with a deeper appreciation for inclusive design and innovation.
Introduction & Teams (10–15 min): Briefing on rules, safety, and inclusivity themes; teams are formed.
Part Collection Challenges (45–60 min): Teams complete interactive puzzles, games, or physical tasks to earn different wheelchair components.
Wheelchair Assembly (60–90 min): Teams collaborate to assemble fully functional wheelchairs, following instructions and leveraging creativity.
Navigation Challenges (30–45 min): Teams compete in entertaining skill-based courses, showcasing speed, control, and teamwork while navigating their wheelchairs.
Debrief & Awards (10–15 min): Facilitators highlight lessons learned on teamwork, innovation, and inclusivity; recognition for the fastest, most creative, and most precise teams.
